(More customer reviews)This is a compact lens that do not have the SAM and MACRO function. I bought it because lots of reviews point out the SAM doesn't bring better performance to the later model.
After used it during my backpacking trip with my A100, I found its image quality is better than SAL1870 kit in the 55-70mm range. However, for its tele-end image quality, it will be better if you can step down to at least f8.
The focus speed is good if the light is bright enough. The only disadvantage is the min. focus distance when you use it in the outside. This lens need about 1.5 meter at least to get focused.
It is not a good lens for indoor use, either. Its focus is not fast enough when you stay in the room. Also, the focus distance limits it usage in a small space. However, with the price you can get right now, it is not a bad deal at all.
